Both of our main glass techniques, laser etching and sandblasting, are designed to hold up to normal use, including the dishwasher, but a few habits help any engraved design stay sharp longer.
Avoid stacking engraved glasses directly on top of each other where the rims can grind against the design, and if a piece has a color fill, hand-washing will keep that fill looking newer for longer than repeated dishwasher cycles. None of this is required, these pieces are made to be used, not just displayed, but it's the difference between a design that looks crisp in five years and one that's started to soften.
